Dear Fellow Parishioners

Last weekend, we announced the much-delayed approval of our plans for the Sanctuary and entry revitalisation program and provided very clear pictorials of what will be constructed.

This weekend Terrance Marbeck, will explain how the projected costs will be funded from both borrowings and our own parish cash resources.

We are also offering an opportunity from individuals and families to make one-off financial gifts to the parish so as to underwrite the amount contributed by the parish or, reduce quickly, the borrowings from the Archdiocese.

Subject to final tender results, our quantity surveyor estimate of approximately $330,000 is being used and our position is as follows:

Estimated cost of alterations and Professional fees, contingency etc
Less professional fees paid to-date
Balance to be raised
Contribution from Parish funds

It is intended that the loan from the Archdiocesan Development Fund will be paid over 10 years at an interest rate of 4.5% - earlier if we can do so.

A number of parishioners have already indicated willingness to make gifts to the parish for this purpose, including a recent donation of $5,000. We are now seeking donations from any other interested families or benefactors.

These can be a single one-off lump sum or, if preferred, periodic payments direct to the specially opened separate parish account:

BSB 086 006
Account No 3208 53870
Account Name Scarborough Parish
Details Your name

Cheques made payable to Scarborough Church

Cash donations can be put into the collection in an envelope clearly marked Church Revitalisation.

We are not going to call on or visit parishioners, or keep asking for more. Rather, we will keep you all informed, as to what sums have been achieved, periodically in the newsletter.

All donations will be kept confidential and no names declared.

Thank you all for your ongoing support and continued friendship. The feed-back we have received since last week about the design is very positive. and we are hopeful of a successful conclusion and opening of the revitalised church sometime in August.

Finally, we will announce the successful building tender and any cost implications as soon as the architect’s recommendation has been approved by the Archdiocese which expect will be sometime in March.

With love and blessings.
