Welcome to Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish,
the Catholic Church in Scarborough.
This parish is a local faith community of those who believe in Jesus Christ and who are members of the Roman Catholic Church. Born to eternal life through Baptism, enlightened by the Word of God, and healed, nourished and strengthened by prayer and the Sacraments, we grow as a Church community in our faith, hope and love for Jesus Christ, and we live our lives in obedience to the will of God. Sharing in the Church’s mission we are called to give God worship, to love each other, to care for the poor, and to invite everyone to personally encounter the love and mercy of God through his Son, Jesus Christ.

The patron of our parish is Mary, the mother of Jesus. We believe that Mary, in anticipation of her special role in salvation history and as a gift from God, was conceived free from the Original Sin of Adam and Eve which all of us have inherited. Indeed the Archangel Gabriel greeted Mary as “full of grace” (Luke 1:28). Mary’s heart is immaculate, perfect in all virtue, and she is closer to her Son’s heart moreso than anyone else.
We look to the Immaculate Heart of Mary as an example and inspiration of Christian discipleship, the first of Christ’s disciples. We also turn to her as a heavenly mother who cares for us, and who intercedes for us with her Son in all our needs.
